Stayed at the Ibis Euston. Had lunch at a restaurant/cafe by Euston called Puccino's. The photo sums up the place.
Then went to the Tower of London. Then to the Cittie of York pub on High Holborn. We tried also the Mitre, just down a little alley between Ely Place and Hatton Gardens, but its only open Monday to Friday.Looks good. We then got a taxi to Soho and had Italian food in Amalfi restaurant and some beers at the Dog and Duck, just round the corner on Frith Street.
I'm in Porto in Portugal for 3 nights at a conference. Staying at nice hotel, where the rooms have bathrooms with glass walls and blinds!
Flew with RuinAir. Started reading Lance Armstrong's book on the plane.
Went to London on Monday. Westminster Abbey (have I got that right?) looked good in the sun. My meeting was in the great named street Petty France.
We went for a Peak District walk on 18 October from the village by Arkwright's mill, can't remember the name of it now (our side of Matlock Bath). Anyway, saw this sign in the car park and though it a very summery thing to have for a permanent sign. When we finished our walk, towards the middle of the afternoon, there was an ice cream van there!
Fitted this new cat flap on 11 October. Its on the inside end of the little tunnel through the wall. What's really clever is that it has a chip reader in it so that it only lets our cats in!
By the river is a little cafe, serving teas and snacks from a small window. Its popular, as you can see.
Meant to write about this earlier, on 4 October Julie and I did this fantastic walk from Dovedale in the peak district. About three-quarters of the way round is this lovely place to stop. We had our food and a little bottle of cava each.
We were very grown up and did lots of stuff in the gardening, including spiking the lawn and adding top-dressing.
Julie often comes out with expressions that I've not heard before. Today's was "put wood in hole", which means "shut the door".
Went to see this film with Matt last night at the Showcase cinema. Had some nosh cv Frankie & Benny's first. Enjoyed the film, though its ripe for a sequel in 3 years.
